I thought I was the only “suicidal idiot” venturing into the rain this morning but as soon as I hit Garden Road I caught up with another cyclist braving the rain. But he was riding in the gutter which was full of rainwater, so I called him out to the center. We exchanged a small chat on “Let’s get wet!” and “You go first, you’ve got a pedelec” and “Where are you heading?” “Qormi” “Dock 7” “Take care” “You too”…

i dunno if the lad is on this group, if yes, cheers bro! (EDIT: identified as No Traffic 4 Me – Malta)

I made a mess of it, honestly I didn’t wear waterproof trousers but I had an extra change in my bag so I went full lycra and got real wet. My waterproof shoes became waterlogged shoes. But I knew I had towels and dry shoes waiting for me at work…

Coming up Ghajn Dwieli to behind MCAST, the traffic police stopped the traffic to let me specifically pass. I avoided the route to Dock 7 from the road behind MCAST as I remembered the waters gathering at the foot of the hill, so I passed through the Moskea downhill, gliding in the middle through the stuck double row of cars, then down to Dock 7.

I caused a driver to laugh heartedly when reaching the cross roads in Albert Town which is also waterlogged and pulling up my legs forwards as I glided through the rainwater.

Coming down the Marsa Church I saw a couple of friars under umbrellas making their way to the church. A “peace be with you” thrown their way was returned back with a surprised smile…

Coming back home in sunnier weather I came across a young group of MCAST students making their way to the bus stop along the roundabout. Their already jolly banter broke into laughter when they saw me (I was wearing the bright yellow rainjacket over the hi-viz complete with yellow raincover over the helmet. Rather than being offended, I rang my bike horn to taunt them, raising their laughter even more…
